HP MarketSplash lets small business owners design and create all kinds of printed material. The real focus is on design. It’s really a DIY (do-it-yourself) site for spreading around your brand and information. The project grew out of the LogoWorks acquisition and it sounds to me like it provides needed services for small businesses.
The cool thing is that they’re focused on providing flexibility and facilitating customization. Everyone needs professional high quality printed material, particularly business cards which start at FREE and include options like recycled paper, heavy card stock, embossing, and logos.
You can have them ship the materials to you, print them out at home, or pick them up at any Staples in 30 minutes. That last one impresses me. I’ve run out of b-cards at conferences and this would be a sweet solution for that.
I created new cards for myself and it was very easy. You need to have Flash installed first, but after that it’s just a matter of picking a template and entering all your info into the data fields. Customization on top of that was pretty easy. I added more text and moved it around easily.
The only drawback is that on the back of the card is an ad for MarketSplash. I have found that the first thing someone does when I hand them my card is turn it over. So right away they see that it’s a free card and I’m just not sure that’s how I want to represent myself. I’m using the free 100 to assess quality and if I’m happy I’ll order 500.
