A lot of people ask about Drop Shipping as a home based business. Assuming you have decided what you want to sell, then you’ll need to find a drop ship wholesale supplier. You can find them yourself via various methods discussed in this blog and elsewhere, or you can use an online wholesale supplier database like Worldwide Brands OneSource.
Worldwide Brands lists thousands of verified wholesale suppliers in their database and they work very hard to keep it current. It’s unlikely you’ll find dead websites or non-working phone numbers in their database of suppliers. If by chance you do, it probably won’t be in there very long because they check it continuously for data that needs to be updated or removed.
But does that mean they do the work for you? Not exactly. While they do the work of finding and verifying wholesale suppliers (Drop Ship and other types), you must still make the move to contact the supplier you’re interested in. Worldwide Brands makes this easy as well by including a contact form in the OneSource database. That allows you to quickly initiate a request for information from the supplier.
While this contact form works sometimes, I have had better success by contacting the vendors myself via their websites. The OneSource Database will give you the web address of the vendor. Take some time to read up on their website — especially if you have questions. Quite often the answer will be there and they will usually tell you how to initiate a contact. If you use the Supplier’s website to make the contact and you found them through OneSource, make sure to note that.
Sometimes you may have to follow up and often the information will not come back right away. Always give the supplier a few weeks to complete the request. The better you understand the company and work with them from the start, the more successfully you can work with them in the future!
