I have been writing all week about the book Lovemarks: The Future Beyond Brands, and what we can learn about management and leadership. This is the final post. It has been fun looking at management through the Lovemarks lens.
The signs and symbols of great management can be found in many places and the major themes keep on popping up again and again. Being a positive force such that people can and want to do their best work requires relationships, connections, and love.
How many MBA programs talk about love?
How many corporate training universities talk about love?
In Lovemarks, Kevin Roberts wrote:
"Never pull back on service. Service is where transactions are transformed into relationships. Where respect meets love."
"Human beings are powered by emotion, not by reason."
I am an analytical person, and yet, I believe the above statement to be true. I use logic, facts, information, research, and analysis to fuel my success. But the engine is emotion – my drive, passion, curiosity, frustration, resolve, and joy.
As this series comes to a close, I am left wondering how you and I can best influence the corporate education system to prepare our leaders for optimal success… Who’s doing a great job cultivating leaders who understand, embrace and live the vision of love and relationships at work?
