I had a very interesting phone call yesterday with one of our Maui Mastermind clients. Our client had purchased our “How to Build a Level Three Business Home Study System”. With that purchase our client got an hour of my time to look at areas of their business. In order to have the call our client had to fill out some information and get that to me. As I looked over the information sheet it became very apparent that our client had many irons in the fire to “make enough money to survive” but there was no clear focus. When our call began I asked several questions to ensure what I had interpreted from the questions was indeed a correct conclusion. (There is no finger pointing with what I am about to uncover in our one hour conversation. I too have had several business ideas and companies going at once and they all were about making money but at the end of the day what was really apparent, even if they were making money they did not make me happy nor was I Passionate about what I was doing). Our client’s plethora of irons are, a W-2 job, love to typing (trying to start this up a business with this), we later uncovered she loves to edit, she has a pre-paid legal business, and our client was being coached in buying and selling wholesale residential properties. Man that’s a lot going on even for me who has any and every ADHD you can think of….! Our Clients desire in their words, “Please help me identify my Passion and help me come up with a business strategy”.
We spent about 15 minutes going through an exercise that had her look over many time periods in her life, times that money was not the motivator; the love of doing what you were doing was the Passion was behind the Why not the reward. You remember those times don’t you? By spending this time several things came to light. Our client has a love for animals; even used to own horses, at 18 worked in a vet clinic and loved it. The current W-2 job brings skills in database management, what a great bonus skill set to have. The question was clear, how do we attempt to marry all these into something our client would be excited to create and execute on?
We began to look at her purpose and for our client it was to help and love all things, our client’s passion for reading and editing words, and yes she loves to type, our clients desire to be around animals and our client’s knowledge around computers and data bases.
My suggestion to her………………why don’t you create a business that helps vet clinics become better at the “human/owner touches (animals owners are passionate about their pet) to their current clients, re-connect to clients that no longer come to that office, create a monthly news letter for vet offices, my vet does it and its great, and offer services to introduce client data base management or client data base management clean up and upgrades for existing systems. Once systemized this process could be used over and over for vets all over our client’s area and then who knows maybe “A Level Three Business” is born……!!!
In one hour we were able to create not only a dream business that can scale but it would also meet and exceed our clients Purpose in life and allow Passionate to be the focus of the business.
For me I feel really blessed because when we were going through this process guess what I was doing my life Purpose, asking tough questions to get to new discoveries and my Passion dreaming up and building businesses that people not only love but love to build.
