I am a 21 year old college student trying to start a telemarketing department for a cellular business to business sales force. I have been telemarketing since I was 17 years old and have ran my own 14 man call center before. I have been doing collections for the last 6 months and seem to have lost my “tricks” to get people to set appointments. I’m not doing horrible, but have only booked one apt. in about 6 hours of calling. I feel my script is catchy, but how do I catch a business owner or controllers attention? I appreciate your time and found your blog on allbusiness.com very imformant. Thank you.
Thanks for contacting me and reading my column. Essentially you will want to begin by asking probing questions. Mostly open ended. In other words. Can you tell me what you’re currently using for your cellular service?
Are you under contract? Will you be renewing or are you open to other services? Have you had any significant issues with your current provider?
In other words get them to talk instead of feeding them info. Once you’ve gathered enough info you cna then tell them about your services and book the sale or appointment. I will be addressing this question and more in an upcoming column so stay tune.I hope this helps. And don’t be discouraged , we all go thru slumps.
