I’m traveling this week leading two “health care update” seminars in
The takeaway? The word is “convenience”. Drug stores do it, Costco does it, airports do it – how about making flu shots convenient for your patients, too? Thinking about convenience as a guiding principal is a good strategy, one that my help simplify your operations as well. Look at your internal processes – do patients confront obstacles in getting to see you? Is the paperwork necessary or can you make it simpler? Are you responsive to patients when they call – are they called back in a timely manner, or do they have to wait until the end of the day or the next day? Can patients get to speak to you when they need to, or are you always “busy”?
Look at your practice from the viewpoint of the patient. Take a simulated walk through as though you were a patient. Stop at every point a patient would, fill out every form, answer every question. Can you do it better, faster, cheaper – and more effectively?
