In a really great piece on the Open Forum Web site, Ivana Taylor explains several common sales prevention strategies. I hope you will read it for yourself, but — just in case — here is a peek at what she had to say:
Taylor talks about stores that turn down expired gift certificates. Why, she asks. Someone paid for them. Why not honor them?
I, in fact, have thrown away gift certificates that passed their expiration date, and the fact is that had I been able to use these gifts, I might have become a regular customer at the stores that issued them. Of course, I’ll never know since I never got the chance to try.
