Another example of how every little bit helps. Half Price Books in the Dallas FortWorth area is running a “B(eco)me Green” program. When you buy your books, you’re offered an opportunity to take your books naked (i.e. no plastic bag), or you can buy one of their ninety eight cent “B(eco)me Green” tote bags. Choose one of those two options and Half Price Books donates a nickel to environmental projects.
Since the beginning of the year, almost 500,000 customers have left the plastic bags behind, raising more then $35,000. Now the company is allowing its customers to vote online to choose which charities will receive the first allotment of funds.
