Do you have a formal purpose statement for yourself and your
A purpose statement can help answer the all important question,
why are we working? If they are written with honesty and careful
consideration they can help you and your team be inspired and stay on track.
Here is my personal and team purpose statements:
– To follow my heart and trust what moves me. Team:
– We help teens and adults answer the question: What was I
born to do? And then, make the answer a reality.
– We innovate by melding the worlds of coaching, personal
growth, technology and business.
1. Create a list of 10
reasons why you work.
2. Create a list of 10
reasons why you are doing the job you do now.
3. From this list and
you own reflection create a one line personal purpose for work
1. Before the meeting,
have everyone find a business purpose or mission from another company they like
and bring it to the meeting.
2. Each person reads the
statement and tells whey they like it.
3. Brainstorm 10 reasons
why your team exists.
4. Co-create a draft of
a purpose statement for the team.
5. At the next meeting,
finalize the statement as a team and create a list of ways you will use it.
