Let’s face it, our businesses are as much a part of us emotionally as they are sources of financial sustenance. Talk about ownership! We live, breathe and sleep the little suckers. So it’s funny to hear how our kids, or our nieces and nephews or the kids of our friends, perceive what we do and how they describe our enterprises.
My son was about eight when I heard him bragging to a friend at school, “My mom’s business has mints! In a tin! With the name of the company on it!” Wow – big stuff!
Our kids miss us when we’re not home, and they wish they had our overstressed hearts and minds more to themselves when we’re home but not really focusing. That’s fair. So how do they view what we do – jealously, proudly, or a little of both? What about your crew?
