No-one would argue that security is important for airlines these days, however its getting a little extreme, don´t you think?
I was once on a middle-eastern flight trying to take off during a war, oh many years ago, when a man boarded the plane with a sub-machine gun. He was taken off the plane — but just because he wouldn´t hand the weapon over to the cabin staff. These days he would never get anywhere near check-in much less a plane and the entire airport would go into instant lock-down! I mean its become crazy. Recently, a friend was taken off a Qantas flight in Australia for calling a steward a liar, because the steward had said the coat cupboard was full and friend found out it wasn´t. Friend and his companion were escorted off the plane and are now involved in lengthy legal proceedings with the airline.
In another "incident´ armed police were called on to a Cathay Pacific flight recently after a woman refused to stow her Gucci handbag under the seat in front of her and in the overhead cabin. The woman was escorted off the plane by authorities and caused a one hour delay for the busy flight bound for Tokyo.
A Cathay Pacific spokeswoman confirmed the incident stating: "We had to seek help from authorities."
Pretty soon if you breathe the wrong way or grunt, its going to be a crisis. I mean, to let go of Gucci is a crime in itself.
