When you look at home-based business opportunities, what do you find? They appear frequently in magazine ads and they’re usually loaded with plenty of hype.
One thing to look for is this: Are you getting a job or are you getting a real business opportunity that you can grow? If you look at it closely, you will usually be able to determine whether it’s a ‘work from home’ arrangement or an actual home business opportunity that you can build on. This is an important distinction.

If you will be paying into a home business opportunity, do you really want to pay someone so that you can do set of menial tasks? The example that comes immediately to mind is the envelope stuffing thing where you supposedly get paid to stuff envelopes and get paid according to how many envelopes you can stuff. This is not a home based business. This type of arrangement is simply a job that you can work from home. Aside from perhaps a small administrative fee (less than $20), you should never have to pay someone for the privilege of doing a job for them. They should be paying you!
If your goal is to actually build a business and that business has growth potential, stay away from the ‘work from home’ arrangements. Either way, make sure you’re clear as to which category the opportunity falls under and make sure you don’t pay for a job!
