How many times have you been to a website and the only contact information you can find is an email address or perhaps a form to fill in? Did you feel comfortable doing business on that site?
If you’re selling products online as your home based business, having a clearly displayed, fully loaded contact page will be necessary to help establish rapport with your site visitors. A good contact page should have the following.
Physical Address – This is a piece of information people will expect to see. Don’t want to show your home address? See this post on establishing a business address.
Phone Number(s) – This is another piece of information your site visitors will be eager to see. Ideally, you should have a toll free number. Here is a post about getting a toll free number for your home-based business. You can also place a fax number here in addition to any voice numbers.
Emails – Post email addresses for the various functions of your business. For example, you may have one email for customer service, one for product inquiries, one for feedback, etc. Post them all here.
Contact Form – A contact form is somewhat optional, but people may expect to see them. All too often I’ve seen contact pages with nothing but a form! I don’t think that’s a very sound strategy as a stand-alone contact page but you can certainly make it a choice.
Give your site visitors lots of options in contacting you and they’ll likely feel better about doing business with you.
