In this blog post, I talked about handling negative feedback. RipoffReport.Com is a consumer complaint website that seems to be largely ignored by many businesses. In fact, Ripoff Report does seem to have a lot of ‘clowns’ posting to it (such as a the guy who complained about McDonald’s because he was missing one of the 10 Chicken McNuggets in his package one day), which is why a lot of businesses ignore it.
If you’re running a home-based business (or any small business for matter) have you checked to see if your business is listed there? It’s a safe bet that at least some consumers pay attention to it. I checked and fortunately our business is not, but a few of our competitors do have complaints listed there. And the complaints were unanswered.
If you do find yourself listed there, you can post a positive-sounding rebuttal telling the world that you would love to resolve the problem for the complaining customer. If you’re a small business, you should still have the resources to rebuff this kind of thing. As I mentioned in yesterday’s blog post, sometimes even with best practices, things can go wrong and leave the customer feeling less than good about your business.
