In a column entitled “Outbreak of iPods” last week, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that UCSF had given all 8300 of its employees iPods as thank you gifts during Staff Appreciation Week. This is causing some consternation among critics–including the nurse’s union, which claims the money would have been better spent on benefits for staff. (According to the column, UCLA’s Medical Center gives only keychains and coupons for ice cream.)
Allbusiness.com is a website; as you can imagine, many of us have a small love of technology. As such, a free iPod sounds kind of nice. But what do you think? Is an iPod too generous of a gift? What does your practice give as incentives to employees?
