So you want to learn how to make money with your ideas. We’ll as my father always said, if you want to learn how to do something get close to someone who has successfully done what it is you want to do.
If you want to learn how to be a successful inventor, get close to one. If you want to learn more about patents, get close to a patent attorney. If you want to learn more about prototypes, get close to someone that does prototypes and suck them for all the info you can!
So you ask, how do I get close to these people and where do I find them? One easy way is to find your local inventors organization and attend their meetings. What’s that you ask? What’s an Inventors Association? What do they do? Sit around and invent stuff?
Most inventors associations are just like any other business association. They have resources, meetings and seminars. It’s a great opportunity to get close to some of those successful inventors, patent attorneys, prototype and manufacturing experts we just talked about.
As a creative person do you get the feeling that sometimes your family and friends don’t quite understand all these crazy ideas you come up with? An added bonus of attending meetings of your local inventors association is that you can feel welcome and be amongst like-minded people.
Inventors can sometimes feel like they’re all alone on an island with no one to fully understand their hopes and dreams. Sure, your friends and family can be supportive, but they don’t really get it. They don’t have the creative bug that you have.
Being isolated from like-minded people can be a real problem and keep you from moving forward. Being around other like minded people with a common interest will get you motivated and help you move forward with your projects.
So even if your local inventors group isn’t made up of heavy hitters and doesn’t have speaker who’ve made a millions, you will most definitely benefit from being around others that share your passion for coming up with new ideas.
So do you need to dig for hours to find your local inventors organization? Heck no! Just go to the United Inventors Association website. UIA is an umbrella organization for most of the inventors groups around the country. You can find you’re local inventors organization simply by visiting this page.
If you can’t find an inventors association near you, I suggest checking out the Inventors Alliance website. Inventors Alliance is an inventors association ahead of its time. They have amazing speakers and broadcast their events live over the Internet. You can visit the Inventors Alliance at http://www.InventorsAlliance.org. Sign up for their newsletter to get notified of upcoming events that you can attend from home on your computer.
So the two things you can do to move forward with your projects are to:
•Get close to people who are successful at what you want to do and get as much knowledge out of them as you can.
•Surround yourself with other inventors that can be encouraging and supportive of your inventive goals.
You can do both of these things by attending a meeting of your local inventors organization. Good luck and keep inventing.
