Intrepid shopper Gina Lee is done with her Christmas shopping, thanks to organized family outings on Thanksgiving morning and early on Black Friday. Having shopped on the day after Thanksgiving for eight years in three states, Lee of Corona, Calif., knows a thing or two about that big retail day.
So, she noticed, this year, that Best Buy “had enough people for the registers.”
And she took special note of the obvious police presence: “They had police officers on bicycles that were patrolling,” says Lee, who adds that the officers made consumers feel that if there was a problem — perhaps with angry shoppers — it would be handled by the proper authorities.
“This was the best time that we’ve had,” she says. “I think we got home at 10 on Friday morning, and we started at 6. We probably went to eight different stores.”
