In its current issue, the AARP Bulletin has an extended interview with Michael Moore, The Oscar-winning director’s new documentary, “Sicko,” examines the health care crisis in the United States, and compares our system to those of Canada, Europe and Cuba. His work has garnered him lots of praise from the independent film community–and a federal investigation into his travels to Cuba.
Moore, who is much reviled by conservatives for his blunt analyses of corporate culture, the NRA, and the Iraq War, says he tried to be non-partisan in this film. “I made this film in hopes of reaching across the great divide in this country,
so I made it in a nonpartisan way,” he tells the AARP Bulletin. “I started
with the premise that illness knows no political stripe.”
