On Friday, I shared a latte with Clate Mask and Monica Miller of Infusionsoft. We had a great, albeit rambling, conversation about small business, marketing, and how technology can help make life easier for those of us who feel like we’re always swamped. I was very excited because I saw eye to eye with Clate about a number of things and I don’t think he was just patronizing me. He seemed to genuinely believe in educating small business owners about the merits of using technology to help them run their business.
Infusionsoft exists to help very small business (<25) owners keep track of various marketing programs and facilitate lead generation. They do this by automating the contact and reporting process. How would you like to have a system automatically send out emails and newsletters to potential customers? Or would you rather spend hours a week not running your business and instead making phone calls and sending emails? Personally, these are distractions that I could do without. Although, to be fair I do realize that someone has to bring in new business.
