I take a non-political view in business – you’d be hard pressed to know which way I lean…. and I am having so much fun watching the national political campaigns – especially in watching the presidential and vice-presidential candidates give speeches.
Local elections are not as exciting to me – seems like dirtier politics and mud slinging. Oh, I know – there is a lot of mud flying everywhere in politics – however, what I am fascinated with is how candidates present themselves, how they work to convince us, and how the marketing machines behind them are working round the clock to get them elected.
Wouldn’t it be great to have a team of people behind your business – working when you are resting, creating marketing pieces, commercials, emails, and text-message campaigns?
Take note of how the political system is working though – and pick up some strategies for your business or your niche within your business:
Multi-faceted marketing (email, TV ads, direct mail, text messaging, etc)
Passion and conviction from every speaker – is that true in your company?
Use of technology
Ongoing asks for more funds/donations (translation: are you moving your opportunities forward and for referrals?
What gets and keeps your attention when it comes to politics, and how can you translate that for your business?
