What a great name. No matter what generation or industry you are in, that name evokes something for you.
I had planned another post today, but got so swept up in a review I was doing for Small Business Trends today that I decided to share some of that here. Email on Acid is a new email testing service, web-based, that lets you test your email marketing campaigns.
It is extremely difficult to test the renderability (how the email gets served up in the email client) of a campaign. One assumes, at least I did, and that what I saw in my web browser and email client is what my reader would see. For instance, when my email marketing company gives me the mockup of what they are planning to send, they send it to me in HTML. Email client equals Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Google’s Gmail, etc.
Not difficult anymore with Email on Acid. This new web-based app is free while its still in beta, but the founders tell me that the pricing of it will still be affordable. In a nutshell, the program tests what your email will look like in 15 different email clients. If you wanted to do the same testing yourself and save the money, you would need 5 web browsers, 9 desktop email clients, 15 email accounts, and 4 different operating systems. Just in case you were thinking that it might be worth it… Oh, you’d also need a ton of patience.
The site offers helpful tutorials and a useful blog. You have to love the design and energy of the site, too. Cool way that the acid drips. The full review I wrote is called: Email Testing with Email on Acid.
Let me know what you think and how you run and test your email campaigns.
