Close your eyes and think back to a time when you had a great consumer buying experience – yes, close your eyes. Remember that feeling – you knew you were buying something that would help make you a better person, or a cooler person, or a better worker / parent / child. That buying experience happened….. and alas, you were never followed up on again.
You were not followed up on for future business, and you were not followed up on to refer others you know who might have wanted that same wonderful experience you had.
Why? Because your great salesperson never followed up with you. They either got lazy, or what I see most often – they didn’t have a system in place to follow up with you periodically. You were their valuable customer. They have left money on the table.
Living in a small town, I see it all the time now – the hair stylist who could easily increase revenues by an occasional phone call – that restaurant we had a special occasion dinner at – the business association I don’t hear back from.
Folks – this is an EASY one to solve – find a system where your valuable prospective customers, current customers, and past customers do not fall through the cracks. There is no excuse now, with the abundance of CRM systems that are web-based and simple to use. Get started on this right away. Post your successes.
