We’ve seen way too many tragedies this hurricane season, don’t let your business be one. Are you ready? At a minimum, you should:
Have off site back ups of critical data – You can find resources online by simply searching. A quick back up to a private area of your website is a good option too.
Have a communication plan in place – How will your clients and employees contact you? And you them? Have several alternatives available. Phones may be out of service. Wireless service can be spotty. Can you use a web alternative such as posting to a special page on your website?
Make sure your back up data is viable — This is one of the biggest mistakes businesses make. Not testing to ensure the integrity of the back up data. All of your work will be for naught if you can’t access it. Test before any disaster.
Check for web hosting redundancy – Don’t live in Florida? Where is your web hosting company? Even if you live halfway across the world, your hosting company may live in the path of a disaster. Make sure they have fail safe and redundant systems in place.
