HP made a flurry of environmental announcements yesterday. They now have their own HP Eco Highlights Label that will let users know when they’re buying a piece of green HP equipment. Part of their green equipment line includes the new HP Deskjet D2545 Printer, which is made from 83% recycled plastic and uses a printer cartridge that is made with recycled plastics.
HP also announced four environmental goals. They want to improve the efficiency of their printers by 40% in the next three years, and they want all of their photo paper to come from sustainable forests by next year. They’re planning on tripling the amount of recycled materials in their products by 2010, and there will be 250 million HP ink cartridges recycled by this fall.
