I was leafing through a work notebook last night and came across my reverse list of New Year’s Resolutions. This is a list not of what you want to do in the New Year, but what you’d like to be able to say you achieved when you sit down next December.
I confess I had sort of forgotten about that list, even though I got a lot out of the exercise at the time. But upon reviewing it, I’m happy to say I’ve been making some progress. I’ve made steps towards reaching one financial goal. I’ve been working to establish more balance in my life by exercising more and meditating regularly (this really helps me manage the stress of working motherhood). And I’ve done a lot of work on cleaning out and organizing my office and making it a more pleasant, spacious place to work.
I haven’t made progress on several work-related projects, however, so I’m putting up a note on my book shelf to remind me that those are projects I’d like to say I completed when I sit down to review the year on December 31st.
So go take a look at your list. And let me know how you’re doing!
