Geek blogger Robert Scoble has written a post talking about how to get an audience with Mike Arrington at TechCrunch. While you may have little, if any, interest in getting attention from tech bloggers, Scoble said something that should be a basic principle where blog marketing is concerned. And I quote…”[I]f your product is so hot then go to the Z list, get them to write about it. Mike and I both watch hundreds of blogs and Digg. If something interesting is going on we´ll hear and write about it.”
The Z list equals the long tail of the blogosphere, folks like me. The fact is, uber-bloggers like Scoble and Arrington spend an inordinate amount of time trolling the blogosphere for news. It’s their lifeblood. They aren’t the only ones. Chances are there’s a “Scoble” in your industry niche, and getting his/her attention would be a boon to your business. (At least your ego.)
So, get your message out to other bloggers in your niche. Let them know about your post and do your best to encourage them to comment and post about it. You never know when something you say may show up on your industry’s A-list blogger’s blog.
