There are champions and then there are champions. Vincent Wright is a LinkedIn power user, and champion of the business networking use of LinkedIn. Vincent leads a LinkedIn forum on Yahoo Groups for sales professionals. I noticed that Vincent has more than 500 connections on LinkedIn (there could be thousands – but LinkedIn stops saying how many at 500 — sort of like a poorly matched up little league game’s score) and 118 people have endorsed him, which is an amazing number.
He sent a note today, and it is pertinent to anyone in selling, or who is running a business. Don’t focus on the mention of “discussion groups” and it makes it a generic message…. and check out LinkedIn as a way to broaden your network. While you’re at it, you can look me up and connect to me — even endorse me there! Here’s what Vincent says:
Have you contacted someone, had one or two or even three conversations, and
then nothing happens?
Have you made an introduction on various discussion groups and no
significant progress came from it?
Well, the answer lies in this one word: Impressions.
If you make an impression on someone and MONTHS have gone by, chances are
that impression has faded. You have to make another one. And you may have
to repeat this process a good number of times before you get the results you
need for your business, career, social cause.
It takes a lot of impressions to make a lasting impression.
Coke knows this.
Yahoo knows this.
Google knows it, too.
Do you? 🙂
