Eric Rice is one of the world´s leading experts in consumer generated media, particularly in podcasting and videoblogging. As co-founder of Audioblog.com, Rice´s goal is to bring solid tools to enable everyone to create personalized or business media. As chief evangelist for Audiblog.com, he travels around the country to explain the values and simplicity of podcasting and videoblogging to the masses.
Not only has Rice built a brand for Audioblog.com, but he’s also built an Eric Rice brand. How has he done it?According to Eric:
I believe it is about knowing where the limits are of too much promotion. You need to balance the promotion, because you don’t want people to hate you if all you (or your brand) do is promote without delivering a product or service that stands up to the promotional buzz.
With Audioblog, it’s about helping people do more, with either audioblogs, podcasting or videoblogging, and building communities.
I have been doing this through community outreach, evangelizing to the blogging community, who would be most interested in Audioblog, and then reaching out to the mainstream consumer, who would be interested in hearing new music, seeing new shows put on by individuals in podcasts or vlogs.
Why do I go on tour for Audioblog? I want to meet the public, show them how to use Audioblog for podcasting, for videoblogging, and reach a greater audience with my shows. It’s about connecting with local podcasting communities, and building communities. Folks meet each other for the first time, some try vlogging, some try podcasting.
As for the ‘Eric Rice’ brand, it’s an extension of my work with Audioblog. I evangelize the power of podcasting and audioblogs, and showcase my own talent and work. While the brand is important, I also highlight my creative outlets with podcasting, videoblogging that show who and what I am.
