You think that each hotel within a chain is the same as the next – especially within the same country! Not so in
Staying at two Best Western Hotels, I found one – the Baiyun Hotel in
There was miscommunication from reception, the cook who made breakfast constantly wiped his nose with his hand then handled food (enough to put you off food for the rest of the day) and when we pressed the emergency dial button when our child became locked in the bathroom, we were put on hold listening to music while said offspring screamed.
When I filed a complaint the hotel apologized and it is feedback like this that helps hotels improve.
Now you could say that we were in a different culture, however we stayed at another Best Western, the Hangzhou Best Western and found seamless service, great food, wonderful office and communication systems.
This has occurred before with hotel chains and I have come to believe differences are more about about human nature and individual management. My expectations about chain hotels are now a lot more open.
