SEO (search engine optimization) is a complex subject that I confess, I don’t really understand and basically ignore because it seems too difficult to figure out. However, I was intrigued by HitTail.com when I read about it and decided to take a look. They have an excellent demo video on YouTube.
HitTail is a content intelligence product that reveals in real-time the least utilized, most promising keywords hidden in the long tail of your natural search results. We present these terms as suggestions that when acted on will boost the natural search results of your site. It’s simple, easy to use, and the results are immediate.
What appeals to me, and apparently to many other bloggers, is that in real time, you see the results of searches that relate to your site and then the system provides a list of suggested key words. By using these key words in your blog post titles and for creating content, you have a better chance of your blogging ranking higher in natural, or organic searches.
HitTail is really simple to install. Set up a free account and you immediately get some code to put on your blog. For this TypePad blog, I set up a notes TypeList, pasted the code in and saved. Now, I just did this so no results are showing up yet so I have to convince myself to stop checking every minute, carry on with my day and check back later to see what’s coming up. I’ll keep you posted.
P.S. I’ve invited the fellow from Connors Communications who developed HitTail to be a guest on Conversations with Experts. I think this could be an enlightening Conversation so stay tuned for that announcement.
I’d also be curious to know what AllBusiness.com’s resident SEO expert, Lee Odden has to say about HitTail.
