I spent at least five hours today managing our contributiion to “consumer directed health plan” – an MSA account. MSA account holders have to submit copies of EOBs in order to get their money back. SImple? Not so fast. All kinds of things can go wrong. The company we deal with – Fringe Benefits Management Company of Tallahasee, FL – tracks services by the date they process it, not the date of service. So, when there is a problem, I can’t always figure out what I’m looking for. Then there are the practices that are part of some big system and operate under several names. Then there are the submissions that are ignored, part of a claim is processed but the rest is not, etc etc. The call center rep GUARANTEES (his emphasis) that he will solve my problem. We’ll see.
Tread carefully – Ok, and ask your congressman when they are going to allow MSA account holders to also roll over unspent funds.
Me? I’m about to download the demo of Intuit’s Medical Manager. I understand the better program is in development – Quicken Health. We’ll keep you posted.
