This coming Monday is Halloween. Although I have never been a big fan of this particular day, always looking at it as a big waste of productive work time, I will try and keep an unbiased outlook, as many of you out there take this opportunity to express your creative sides.
How you can drive your car to work at 7:30 a.m. looking like a pumpkin is beyond me"?¦but hey, who am I to judge? So, whether you prefer to dress up or dress down, any day at work is a great day to eat! So how about a potluck lunch?
On Wednesday, send out an announcement that there will be a list at the front desk for everyone to sign. You don´t want to plan too early because people will forget.
Make sure to include categories because you don´t want everyone in the company bringing desserts"?¦then you´ll never get any work done after lunch! The list should include main dishes, side dishes, appetizers, soups, salads, rolls, and of course, desserts. The company will usually provide the drinks, plates, utensils, napkins and cups, and perhaps a few decorative items.
As an office manager, I believe it is your job to create an atmosphere of excellent company morale, which often takes great effort. There is a lot of thought and planning that goes into company events. This event isn´t as big as a company picnic, but you should always put consideration into what would make things exciting for the employees.
My suggestion is to have a costume contest with 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners. Those winners will receive a gift certificate to the movies, or a local restaurant. It doesn´t have to be anything extravagant, just something to spark a little camaraderie between everyone.
Okay now, let´s get back to work!
