I read a book last week that thrilled me. It’s short, to the point and full of useful information. It gets right to the heart of what you can do to grow your business. There is absolutely no fluff!
Mark is a fellow Minnesotan who has hit the big time. (He actually splits his time between Minneapolis and the west coast.) Over the last 20+ years, Mark has made a big impact by helping thousands of small business owners and professionals grow their businesses. He is an award-winning speaker and consultant on a national level and he has crafted a system that really makes sense.
Here’s why I like his book.
First, it’s only about 80 pages. And it’s a small format (Mark calls it a pocket book). But don’t let that fool you. With business books bigger is not always better. In fact, that may be the exception. This little book took me an hour and five minutes to read and that was while stopping every couple minutes to take notes.
Second, it has useful, actionable information. For example, in one section we’re asked to write down what we’d like for our average gross revenues and for our owner’s compensation. Then he goes on to suggest we ask ourselves two questions every day regarding them:
In the morning, ask yourself: “What WILL I do today to reach my goal?”
In the evening, ask yourself: “What DID I do to reach my goal?”
Third, Mark clearly understand sales and marketing. His sections on both echo things I have been preaching for years. None of this is top-secret information but it is real-world, proven stuf that works if you use it.
Fourth, Mark shares with us the “Greatest Marketing Strategy in the World” on page 65 of his book. I won’t let the cat out of the bag but I will tell you, it’s worthy of the name.
At $7.95 and only an hour of reading time, this book is more than worth it. My advice, go to Amazon.com now and buy it. Heck, buy a couple copies for your friends.
Make it a great day!
