Office Depot has compiled a list of 20 Ways to Go Green at Work. Some of these ideas will work for retailers. Take a look:
1. Buy remanufactured ink and toner cartridges. One returned cartridge, according to Office Depot, keeps approximately 2.5 pounds of metal and plastic out of landfills. Remanufacturing one toner cartridge conserves about a half gallon of oil.
2. Buy recycled paper. The office supply store says that the quality of recycled paper has improved greatly in recent years and that recycled paper is “just as bright and works just as well in printers and copiers as our non-recycled papers.”
3. Go digital. Office Depot says that one 100 megabyte zip drive can store the contents of a four-drawer filing cabinet and that one CD-ROM can hold nearly a roomful of paper.
The list seems helpful. Look for more tips later in the week.
