There’s a lot of interesting writing in the blogsphere! Here are several gems to kick off your week:
On the Worthwhile Blog, Anita offers a look at the projected "hot job" list for the next ten years. Management was third on the list, which is the highest I have seen it in these types of lists. But I think it might just be right. As the world becomes more global and interconnected, excellent managers will become crucial glue (an conduit) that ties the strategy with various parts of implementation.
Management Issues offers this post called, Leadership Listens – an article on why it is a great idea to ask lots of questions.
Those who know me well might think it a bit hypocritical that I am endorsing Johnnie’s idea to have an International No Flip Chart Week. I use flip charts a lot, but agree with Johnnie that their use can get in the way of great dialog (which is much more important than charting ideas with Post Its).
Lifehacker points to this article on the 10 best wines under 10 bucks. Not related to management, I know, but many managers are also winos, so I’m passing it along. 🙂
Check out Tom Peter’s birthday note about what he has learned since his blog began 1 year ago. Some interesting thoughts about the best aspects of being a part of a the blogging community.
Fred over at The Lazy Way to Success found the "Rules of the Game of Life" by Allan Cobb while cleaning up. The item that strikes me most is #3 To enjoy is optional. Too true!
Loic le meur blog offers this post called, On Jeff Bezos’ Mind today. Apparently this flip chart (good thing we were taking the week off flip charts) was penned by Bezos at a meeting in France. If so, it offers interesting insight. Being an ex-amazonian myself, I found it cool. I think we can all learn from the chart, though, about the types of things ALL businesses ought to be concerned with.
In Meddling Boss Redux, Don from Leadership Now gives a reader his detailed perspective and advice for dealing with a micromanager. I love a lot of what Don is saying here and if your boss is driving you crazy, I would recommend you check it out!
Rosa from, Talking Story with Rosa Say, is showing her muscle on her post called, Who’s the real tyrant? I love it that Rosa can be so kind and soulful in one breath and tough as nails in another! Greats managers are both.
