It is with an upbeat, inspiring environment that one can do
their best work. In the case of running your own small business, or in being a
sales professional, (or both, if you are a one- or two- person business) – attitude
is everything — but how to create that culture?
Why? Because prospective customers and clients can SENSE
whether you are excited about working with them to solve their issues.
I can think of retail store after retail store that I go
into for one thing or another that I am looking for. So many times, I feel like
I am “interrupting” the employees conversation simply to “try to
be a customer”.
When it comes to attitude, there is no better way to ground
yourself than through thinking about all that you are grateful for.
A new potential business alliance partner named Trina Bol of Premier Event Connection
wrote an article on Biznik about Gratitude and Business – in fact how she
helped turn around her small business when employees were creating a
not-so-positive environment with their comments.
She quotes author Melodie Beattie, who said:
the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough and more. It turns
denial into acceptance, chaos into order and confusion into clarity. It turns
problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing
and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings
peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.
It is so true that it is difficult to complain when you are
thinking about how grateful you are for all that is. Focus on the wins, and
then create a plan to make the rest happen. For more ideas on this, read Change
the Way You See Everything Through Asset-Based Thinking. It is a phenomenal read,
as is the new sequel – Change the Way You See Yourself.
