A couple weeks ago, I quietly signed up to attend the Blogher conference in San Jose CA area on July 28 and 29. This will be the first blog centric conference I have attended. They never really appealed to me before, but the Blogher 2006 line up of sessions looks good and I think I will learn a few new tricks. After almost two years of blogging and playing in this online media, I need to get caught back up on what’s new and exciting. Kudos to the Blogher staff who created a outstanding line up!
You might think that Blogher would have additional appeal over other blog conferences because I am a woman. But I must admit to being a bit female-avoidant. I am generally not interested in events, training, or conferences marketed particularly to women or for women. Strange, I know. I particularly hate training geared for women leaders – like women need a special class on leadership. They don’t – great leadership training is great – period. Also, as a recovering yuppie from the 80’s who worked for several male centric corporations (Black & Decker, Mead Paper, Intel) I have learned to be more comfortable around fellas. That’s right, I’m slightly afraid of my own gender! How silly…..
I am going to Blogher because they have put together a great line up of intelligent and interesting sessions. I am also looking forward to meeting Jory DesJardins in person as we have known each other virtually for a couple years. It’s nice to put a face to the words. Blogher is open to men, too. Guy Kawasaki just announced he would be there. It will be good to see him again.
If you are going to Blogher, let me know. I’d love to meet some new folks.
