The parent company of GiftCards.com is making a move that will “turn around customers’ gift card orders on demand instead of waiting weeks,” says Jason Wolfe, CEO of Omni Prepaid Group, LLC, which owns GiftCards.com.
The company will move the printing of its gift cards in-house starting Sept. 5. The technology, according to the company, opens the doors to printing merchant cards: “Large and small retailers can use Omni Print to have their gift cards printed and managed.”
Such merchant cards can be sold on GiftCards.com, “an option no other gift card printing company currently offers,” the company says. “Customers already shopping on GiftCards.com can buy a gift card from their favorite retailer. Once they order, we’ll print and ship directly to the merchant’s customer,” says Executive Vice President Jeff Lininger.
CEO Wolfe notes that the in-house printing capability will allow Omni Prepaid more flexibility with customization of Visa gift cards and merchant cards.
U.S. consumers bought an estimated $97 billion worth of gift cards last year, according to Omni Prepaid Group.
