“Blogs are good for business, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates has said.
In a speech to an audience of chief executives, Mr Gates said the regularly updated journals, or blogs, could be a good way for firms to tell customers, staff and partners what they are doing.”
– Thanks to the Yuma Tech Consortium Blog for this one. Welcome to the bandwagon Mr. Gates. The only thing that worries me is in the last paragraph where it says, “Microsoft currently does not make any individual blogging tools but it is widely expected to move into this space soon.” Does this mean ‘Blog Wars’ where Microsoft uses it’s monopoly to break Blogger’s, Truetype’s and others blogging products, takes over the market by bundling with the operating system and then quashing innovation so that no true advances occur (as in the modern browser). Then will they make it almost impossible to blog without being forced to use a Microsoft specfic product or technology? It’s a good thing that the Google IPO is coming soon and that Truetype is doing so well. Maybe there will be a chance that continued innovation, open standardization and lack of lock-in will continue. We can only hope. -ed.
