A few months back, I wrote Filtering Leads for your Home Based Business which talked about using Voice Broadcasting as a way to market your home based business.
The FTC has some new mandates to be effective September 1, 2009 which may affect the way voice broadcasting is using in advertising and marketing. Up until now, rules on calling people have only required that businesses cannot call people who are on the Do Not Call (DNC) list. The added measures will make calling more like email: recipients must ‘opt in’ to allow you to call them.
While there is some potential ‘wiggle-room’ in the exemptions, it appears to try and do away with using voice broadcasting completely for “for profit” marketing purposes. It will be interesting to see how the telemarketing industry reacts and adjusts to this. It will also be interesting to see how companies like Phone Broadcast Club and iBuzzPro will adjust to this. In the meantime, get your voice broadcasting campaigns out of the way before this coming September! Note that this deals with pre-recorded, not live calls.
