Are you sitting on the fence about whether to share your hard earned knowledge and skills in exchange for a prospect’s email address? Well, it’s time to get off the fence and take some action. Free still works. And I don’t see that ending anytime soon.
Yes, you’ll get a few tire kickers — that comes with the territory. You can weed those folks out over time. What it will do for you if you are trading something free for an email address, is give you an audience to build a relationship with. And that definitely works.
Here’s a true story. I give away a free Success Strategies Guide — 10 Keys to Success for Small Business Owners to people who sign up for it on my site. Been giving it away for about five years now. I mail to the list a couple of times a month — sometimes informational stuff, sometimes sales stuff. In the last two weeks I’ve had several people who have been on my list for OVER ONE YEAR purchase something. Free works.
On the internet you have a tiny window of opportunity to capture the attention of your prospects. A few seconds and then most are gone forever. Use those few seconds to your advantage. Begin the relationship process by offering something of value. Build the relationship by offering advice and opportunities that your audience wants and needs.
Important Note: Don’t just batter your list of prospects with sales messages. They’ll quickly run away and never come back.
