Looking for a good idea? Fortune has a feature “11 Great Green Ideas” that can get you started. Although I think there’s a couple of ideas listed that may be a little iffy,(but that’s just my opinion), there’s quite a few good ones; Cereplast and their starch based biodegradable utensils and straws; Makani Wind, harnessing the high wind powers, 1000 feet or more in the air; Serious Materials and EcoRock, their gypsum free drywall.
The one that I thought was particularly ingenious was The Recycle Bank. They pick up, and sort through, your recyclables. If having someone do the sorting for you wasn’t enough, they pay you to let them do it. Customers receive Recyclebank dollars, which they can then spend at participating stores like Starbucks. The company is making money from the cities that they’re participating in; by helping them lower their landfill fees.
