Welcome to Word Smith, AllBusiness.com’s blog about using Word. A few thoughts seem in order. Word seems like a straight-enough proposition at first blush. You type, you format, you print. But of course, whenever you try to get Word to do a little bit more, things get quite a bit more complicated. And Word has all those “helpful” autocorrection and autoformatting features that are just so cumbersome to turn off when you just want to keep writing. And of course the program really is packed with useful goodies that we suspect you could use some actually implementing.
Odds are, other than your email client, Word is the app you spend most of your time as a business user working with. So the point of Word Smith is to be directly, immediately helpful to you in working with it, getting it to behave as you what, enabling you to create what you need.
So I have some ideas about great topics to cover, and I’ll point you to some excellent resources on the net, as well. But if Word Smith is going to help solve your problems, we need to know about those problems. So please post your questions to this blog and we’ll dig into them directly.
