Exponent Trading is a commission-based Network Marketing Company centered around selling on eBay and CraigsList. I previously blogged about Exponent Trading in Exponent Trading – Viable Home Business? and A Second Look at Exponent Trading. They were launched around July 1 so they’re coming up on the 60 day mark. The biggest news is the way their payments are collected.
They originally funneled all their transactions through a single PayPal account. As it started out, you would list an item through their listing program and send the shipping information to them once the item’s shipping was complete. You would then be paid by them for your commission.
That quickly changed however. The company had such a big first month that basically, managing their Paypal account became overwhelming for them. In addition, the high volume of PayPal transactions brought them under PayPal’s watchful eye.
So wisely, they switched the payment management process back to the individual sellers. Now you list items via their listing program and you are responsible for reporting that the item is completed. The difference is that you get paid directly from the customer.
This was a wise move on their part since they could not react to the PayPal complaint process efficiently enough. They were not really involved in the transaction except to the handle the payment. So this change put the controls back in the hands of the individual sellers (called Trading Agents) where it can be better managed.
Exponent Trading knew that they must change fast to accommodate that growth pattern and they did. So at the 60 day mark, that’s the biggest change. But there are some changes slated for the back office and some other available services. More to come on Exponent Trading -stay tuned!
