Echo E-Business, a British company, has issued a white paper, “E-Business Evolution 2009.” This week, we will take a look at what the Echo folks have to say.
For starters, says Deborah Collier, managing director of Echo E-Business, the gap between business and technology is becoming hazy. Online strategies, she says, are today “an absolute necessity, even for the smallest or most traditional of traders.
“In fact, 80 percent of small to medium enterprises now have their own website. . . .”
Put simply, Collier says, the world is turning to face the web. “Companies that fail to follow will find themselves left behind.”
And that means more than just web sites and e-commerce, she says. On the contrary, “online strategies need to look at everything from multi-channel and cross-channel tactics to social networks and beyond. The scope and possibilities of e-business have already changed significantly since the birth of the web.”
