Yesterday I did a Blujay blog post and today I’ll blog about another alternative to eBay. This one also starts with ‘E’ and has four letters, but that’s about where the similarity to eBay ends. Rachel of Seaside Quilts alerted me to Etsy.Com and she tells me it’s a great alternative to eBay.
Etsy is a marketplace for home and small-shop crafted items. On Etsy, you’ll find a wide variety of home manufactured items such as candles, soaps, pottery, jewelry, apparel, gift baskets, and more. You won’t find ‘market’ products there, but you will find lots of unique things that can’t be found anywhere else.
It costs 20 cents to list an item and there is a 3.5% fee when the item sells – similar to, but less than eBay’s final value fee. If you have a home craft business of some kind and are looking for an alternative to eBay, give Etsy a try. If you’re looking for that unique gift, you might try Etsy as a buyer. After all, where else will you be able to find bars of soap that looks like ice cream bars?
