I just ran across a very basic article on how small business owners, especially, can benefit from cultivating their own emotional intelligence. (I’m putting the link below as I’m having trouble with the hyperlink tool on this blog platform today.) This is a good primer on the basics of emotional intelligence. As author Vera Raposo writes, “[P]in layman’s terms, emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize, understand and work with your own emotions and the emotions of others. It’s intuition, compassion, empathy and the ability to analyze these emotions successfully that can make or break a small business owner’s success.”
Raposo also gives several examples of how such business EQ can help the small business owner. It’s definitely worth a read.
