Ty Tribble of PowerSellerKing shows us some indication that eBay traffic is in a downward pattern. While eBay claims this is seasonal, he suggests something more permanent. See the Alexa chart on his blog post here.
This coupled with the seemingly ever-rising costs of selling on eBay makes me wonder: What lies ahead for eBay? Does this spell gloom and doom for eBay and its seller community? Probably not. But will it make selling on eBay more challenging? Probably so.
This would also seem to underscore an important business concept. Have multiple streams of income! Mr. Tribble says:
“I will be reporting on MANY high level eBay Powersellers going out of business in the near future unless eBay does something (lower fees) to help change the trends.”
If these powersellers rely solely on eBay for their income, he may indeed.
If you enjoy auction selling as your Home-Based Business, don’t forget that Overstock.Com offers auction format selling and there is also UBid.Com. If you’re selling something that has proven to sell well on eBay for your Home-Based Business, why not plan to work up to selling it directly on the web?
