Starting in September, there will be a few changes to eBay stores. Thank goodness it’s nothing traumatic as last year’s “resetting the marketplace” changes! Far less painful and actually quite beneficial for the eBay store owners. The changes are occurring for the ‘Featured’ and ‘Anchor’ store levels.
Featured Store Changes– There are 3 levels of eBay stores: Basic, Featured, and Anchor. Featured, the middle tier, will be renamed to “Premium” Stores and will remain at the per-month price of $49.95. They will be getting 24 x 7 phone support. Prior to this, Featured stores had telephone support Monday thru Fridays (excluding holidays). In addition, Featured Store owners will get free access to eBay’s proprietary research tool ‘Marketplace Research Basic’.
Anchor Store Changes – Anchor Store are the top tier of eBay stores. This is where the big eBay players live. The biggest news here is that the per-month price is taking a huge drop to $299.95 from $499.95. There have a been more than a few large players jumping ship since the “resetting the marketplace” debacle last year. This might be eBay’s attempt to bring them back on board and/or it might be a way to retain those remaining Anchors who are considering taking their shop elsewhere. In addition to the price drop, Anchor Store owners will get free access to eBay’s proprietary research tool ‘Marketplace Research Pro’.
If you’re at the Basic store level, this might be a good time to consider making that move up to the next level. And if you’re at the Featured store level, this might be a good time to make that jump to Anchor as it’s now much more affordable. You can read eBay’s announcement on this (I did leave a few things out) at the Coming to Stores page. You can read the full feature comparison at the Store Subscriptions page.
