eBay rolled out their earnings reports on 10/18/06 amid some mixed fanfare. I can’t claim to be an analyst, but it looks like one of those mostly good news reports, with some neutral news in it. Markets responded positively over it but some eBay pulse takers are rolling their eyes a bit.
Randy Smythe, formerly of GlacierBayDVD, has this collection of resources associated with the Q3 earnings report along with some great commentary. One interesting tidbit is that eBay Express may be having a positive impact on their marketplace.
89% of shoppers who have made a purchase on eBay Express say the experience met or exceeded their expectations. And buyers who shop both eBay.com and eBay Express are spending significantly more time, and nearly 25% more money with eBay, than those who have yet to try Express.Source
That’s great news Meg, but one question might be: how many users are using eBay Express? She isn’t saying (at least not here) but she does refer to eBay Express as‘…still a relatively small portion of the total’. If anyone knows of a traffic figure on eBay Express, please send me a comment and I’ll post it!
That aside, eBay Express does expose eBay store listings, which in itself is a badly needed shot in the arm for eBay store owners. But there’s still that nagging question: how many people actually use eBay Express?
